In this day and age when everyone is busy chasing their dreams and travelling the world, staying in the same place at the same time as your family is a difficult task to accomplish and it is more than likely that you are prone to missing out on traditional festivals, family gatherings and events. But there are some things that you just can’t miss.

Rakhi is one of those special occasions when our heart yearns to be with the people we grew up with: our siblings. This Indian festival celebrates the unique bond between a brother and a sister and as an Indian, you naturally want to celebrate this day with your sibling and promise to protect them and be by their side, even when you are far away. We have listed some ways you can still embrace this tradition from a distance.

  • Communicate – The first thing is to call them. With the blessing of technology, you can now carry out the whole process on a video call. If nothing, make sure to send them a text communicating how much they mean to you.
  • Rakhi – A thoughtful gesture is to send rakhi online to your siblings and it will surely make them feel connected to you on this auspicious occasion.
  • Gifts! – Everyone loves receiving gifts and what better way to make them feel special than shipping their favourite things at their doorstep?
  • Vouchers – An easy way to perform a sweet gesture is by sending them vouchers to their favourite stores, be it for clothes, gadgets or food.
  • Visit – Finally, the best out of all, if you can, show up at their place and give them a pleasant surprise and a hug to make Rakhi special.
